Converting to power brakes
My 71 C10 has manual brakes. It has no master cylinder on it right now, but does have a proportioning valve. If I want to add PB, what do I need? The bracket, booster, and master cylinder? Do I need a different brake pedal pushrod as well?
I know I can buy a booster and master cyl new from a local parts store, but how much should the booster bracket and brake pedal pushrod cost me? Will one from a 3/4 ton work? Thanks!

Re: Converting to power brakes
you need a power booster the brackets and the pushrod
if you need all that you may be better off getting a unit from ccp or something...unless your good at junkyarding or keep a good eye on here..

Re: Converting to power brakes
Do you have to change the master cyl? I didn't know there was a difference?

Re: Converting to power brakes
I grabed a booster, bracket and pushrod from a pick and pay for $30.
Bolted it on about two months ago using my manual brakes master cyl. It worked great, just make sure you keep track of all the parts of the lever in the bracket. |

Re: Converting to power brakes
Cool. I am going to convert to power but keep the drums all the way around for now. How critical is it to have the braces for the booster? I don't have those yet.

Re: Converting to power brakes
not sure, but i got those from the junk yard too.
It seems pretty sturdy without them. |
