Tire question from a semi newb
first of all let me say thanks to all the great ideas that I have gathered so far. Now to the good stuff...I have a '73 blazer that I bought in March. It has a 3 in. body lift that I am taking out. I want to go for the 'Rat Rod' look.
My question is, that since I can't really lower it due to being 4 wheel drive (haven't been able to find out how to do so...yet), what size tire should I stuff under the fender to make the gap as small as possible. I tried searching and found nothing. Maybe I just didn't use the right words, so forgive me if its out there. Thanks again to everyone here! |

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am using the old stock rally rims with plastic housings in the middle and removable chrome trim rounds around the outside.

Re: Tire question from a semi newb
For a street/all terrain type tire, 265/75 is about the biggest you can put on a stock rally. Or at least it was about the biggest tire I could find for mine. Mine is a 2wd long bed, but I raised the front end up to sit level with the back end. I'm very happy with the 'fullness' it gives.

Re: Tire question from a semi newb
They looked a lot bigger just sitting in the floor, but I do think they fill in the tire wells very well. My painter has the same size on his 88 blazer, they look good. I only have one shot of his blazer.
You could always step up to some sort of mud tire with aggressive tread, they'd probably talk to you going down the road but they'd be bigger. |
