454 lifter tap??
i got a 78 gmc with a 454 it has a noise that im sure is a lifter tap what is the easest way to locate and fix the problem cause its my daily driver and im not driving it due to fear of further damage to the engine

If it is in fact lifter noise theres a high chance that your cam is starting to wipe out. Hydraulic lifters do not go out of adjustment. What kind of oil have you been running? Have you been using a zinc additive?
The first thing to do is pull the valve cover off and check for loose rocker arms. Another thing to keep in mind is exhaust leaks can sound just like a valve tap. After you pull the valve cover off spin the engine by hand and make sure all the valves are opening the same amount.
