Need to put hood on by myself - how?

I painted my truck in pieces, and have it reassembled, except for the hood. I used an engine hoist to take the bed on and off. Is there a way to use it to put the hood back on? Ideas, pictures, drawings?

Thanks.

Re: Need to put hood on by myself - how?

I did it by myself, along with just about most of the work on my burb...

I got a few moving blankets, and draped them on the cowl and fenders.
IIRC, I got the hood on the hinges and balanced the hood to a point where I could put a long bolt into one forward hole of a hinge.
Once you can manage that, I got a pole to rest the front of the hood on. Walk around and secure the other hinge bolt loosely. From there it was just a matter of alignment.

I don't recommend this at all, but when you are on your own... A man's gotzta do what a man's gotzta do!

Oh, and if it's a windy day... find something else to do that day!

I've done it with tie downs and a rafter in my garage, and with wrestling it up to position and propping it with some 2x4s. Real pain either way. Just get a buddy to help.

Re: Need to put hood on by myself - how?

I hang the hood with tie-down straps to my garage door tracks, then roll the truck underneath. I can do it real slowly and have no paint scratching because I use plenty of blankets.
Patience and thinking ahead is mandatory.
This way I can do it often and take as long as I want.

Here's something that goes on the end of your engine crane.
