little help with lowering questions please.
Hello all, recently purchased a 72 Custom Deluxe. It needs exhaust and shocks so I thought I would Drop it a bit while we were "at it" The question is...I want a relatively flat ride, perhaps a bit higher in the rear, not slammed to the ground and no desire to bag it. What is the mose economical and safe option? What is practical for a daily driver? Drop Spindles, Lowering springs? Honestly have never done this kind of work and need some advice. Thanks! Rich

i would check out CPP (classic performance products) they make front and rear drop kits including drop spindles, coils and shock relocating brackets for under $600.

Heres a company who sells the highlander material. You can get a sample from them.

Re: little help with lowering questions please.
For the front, I prefer spindles vs lowering springs. Go for a 2.5" set from CPP or check out our Vendor Marketplace for some great deals on DJM. If you need a bit more try cutting 1/2 or 1 coil off your stock springs. Cut them, do not heat them.
For the rear, try the Jeep spring conversion. They are cheap and give you 3-4" of drop.

Re: little help with lowering questions please.
Just swap out a 6lug front carier for a 72 carier and cutt 1 round out of the front springs at the bottom of the springs! Done this numeruos times!
Gonna get a stick a thick wall 2" square tubin and cut 2 pieces 7" long and drill 2 holes for the longer U bolts I pick up at Advance Auto Parts and set the back down for a nice level ride. When I'm done I'll have less than 25.00 buck in dropping the 69! Swappin out the 6lug rearend for the 72 5 lug also!

Re: little help with lowering questions please.
Thanks, I just bought a 3/5 drop spring kit, c-notch kit, slammer shocks, and an adjustable rear bar to keep the rear end in line. Now the question is "rims and tires" I have some old school Cragers with 255 70R 15's on them, I hope they don't look too small...what do you think?

Re: little help with lowering questions please.
Its all a matter of what you like, personally i like something a little bigger but for a daily driver with a good ride quality they should be just fine (and look good too). Post some pics when your done, we'd love to see it.

Re: little help with lowering questions please.
I got the 3/5 from CPP. Its nice and everything was of good quality. Only one problem...I now want to go lower. I've heard that can be a problem...
