85 GMC Truck Bed (Washington, DC Craigslist)

This must be a typo or my eyes are going bad.................................

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...704903063.html

I have an 85 GMC truck bed, 6ft. NO RUST. I bought this truck from a guy in South Carolina, no exposure to salt or snow. When I stripped it down to the frame, it literally had as much rust as my 2009 silverado. This truck bed is ment for someone who is rebuilding a classic truck. I am asking 1200 or best offer. It is definitly worth more than that, so only serious buyers. If you need more, pictures I can provide. The only unsettleing rust spot that it has is in in the upper left corner, like it was sitting on a hill or something and the water pooled there. Two of the pictures are the wheel wells. When was the last time you saw a late model GMC/chevy with original paint and and no rust on the wheel wells. It's an awsome truck bed, I hate to get rid of it, but it's gottta go. goderre@hotmail.com

Re: 85 GMC Truck Bed (Washington, DC Craigslist)

Honestly if you ordered all replacement panels, you'd spend way more than that AND the thickness/straightness of the metal wouldn't be near as good as real GM metal.

From LMC:

2 bedsides - $660
2 wheel houses - $100
bed floor - $440
tailgate - $99
2 tailgate posts $60
tail pan - $150
truck freight - $125

That's a good ~$1600 for repro metal that may not fit or look exactly like original. His price isn't that bad considering and I'm sure you could bargain and let the cash talk.

Here is another one on Cincinnati, Ohio CL located somewhere in SE Indiana.
http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/pts/1702233243.html

But this one is oem new for 73-87. The guy must have converted to a flatbed right out of the showroom, more than once.

Re: 85 GMC Truck Bed (Washington, DC Craigslist)

$200 will buy a nice bed here, but we don't really have the severe rust issues other states have.
I know several of the local salvages get so many take off beds, they'll keep a few of each color, save all the tailgates, save all the lamps, and crush the rest. I watched them crush about 30 dodge dually beds the other day, after they took everything off, even the fenders. They were all white and perfect, these were 08 and up though of course.
Just cruised my local CL, found an 83 short bed that looks fairly clean $250 for the roller, 89 burban with bad tranny for $700... they are thick here really. I might see if the guy with the burban will take a NIB glock model 22 and maybe a $100 bill. Would be worth having for a parts truck really.

Can I get some of that stuff those folks are smoking? I have a complete truck that wouldn't bring that price, and you can drive it home!!!!

Re: 85 GMC Truck Bed (Washington, DC Craigslist)

Just goes to show you that some guys out here are delusional when it comes to selling truck parts. I can hit one of the local pick and pulls and pick up a bed for anywhere from $ 250 - 400 bucks all day. Also true in your areas and mine, you can pick up a running truck in half way decent shape for that price. I am trying to catch up with a buddy that let me pull some parts off of his 80' Burb. His buddy has a farm about 15 minutes from my house with a bunch of sqaure bodies just sitting there rusting up. Have my eye on a late 70's stepside short bed with flames...................

Re: 85 GMC Truck Bed (Washington, DC Craigslist)

Rust free beds are nearly impossible to find up where I am. I bought a southern (I think) PA bed that is super nice, only has rust on the pass side rear opening, but other than that it's damn near perfect, got it for $500. If I looked around, might have gotten something cheaper, but would require more work. This one doesn't look like it ever had anything in the bed, underneath is real clean, and even got a sweet black tonneau cover on a frame. But that guy is smoking some good stuff.
