Looking for aftermarket wheels for my 60 half ton stepside GMC. It has 6 lugs. Most offerings are 6 1/2 inch bolt patern. Is this correct for my truck? Thanks in advance.

actually in my haste, i made an error. The ones i've seen offered are 5.5 inch, not 6 1/2.

It should be 6 on 5-1/2". There is an 8 on 6-1/2" for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, so whoever wrote the ad you saw might have gotten the two confused.

Be careful when surfing for 6-lug wheels. Many of the newer wheels are late-model specific in their fit & may not work all that well on these older trucks. Verify width & back-spacing for your set-up.

now that i got the size, i'm wondering about backspacing. Just looking, it appears there's a lot of room for wide tires, but I'd like to know for sure. What's about the max back spacing rim width the stepsides can handle without altering anything?

This is VERY subjective. What one guys says fits great, another guy wouldn't consider. Ride height also plays a big part in this....

I suggest looking through some of the various picture threads. Save some pics of trucks you like the look of here to give us an idea of what works for you.

One more thing to consider is the center hole size, I purchased some late model wheels, and the center hole is too small, I ended up having a mechinest making them bigger.
