Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy

I may be interested in a set of BB stainless. For this GP do you have to meet the quantity for each type for the pricing to take effect or is the total based on total orders overall?

Errrr, just let the air out of my balloon with the list prices. Really like the header, it is exactly what I have been looking for, but with this recession, that's a little steep for me.

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy

Is it 5 or more on each style....meaning, BBC mild steel bare don't get the discount unless at least 5 buy those specific? Or just 5+ period for across all?

I'm in the header mode but can't even come close to looking at these. They are 2 to 3 times your competitor prices. Yes, tucked in the frame is nice but not at 2x to 3x the cost. You may hit the custom crowd with lot's of disposable income but you have lost the DYI crowd. Not sure what if that was your intent. Sorry.

for small block headers the mild steel and stainless orders can be mixed to meet the 5 order minimum. For the big block headers, I don't think i am going to be able to do the same. Reason is stainless is very expensive and pretty much every component is special order. I am waiting for laser cutting prices for the flanges for a quantity of just two. This will allow me to see what I can do to allow you guys to merge the mild steel and stainless. I'll know by tomorrow.

I'm not sure which competitors you are comparing us to. We don't consider many companies as competitors because, honestly, most companies don't compare when it comes to quality and finish work. We are a small company located in WA state. Everyone working here is American, almost every vendor I use is an American business and all tubing is made by American steel mills. There is no possible way to compete with other large companies who choose to outsource labor to Mexico, China, etc. We focus on offering the absolute best quality. Our finish work is above and beyond anything most customers have seen in a header. The tubing we use is thicker, flanges are thicker, all ports are hand ported and machined flat, complete welds on both sides of the header flange, completely clean of burs both inside and out, we even polish the clamp marks on our mild steel headers to make sure everything looks as good as it's made. Since these headers are made in such small quantities, they are defnitely more expensive but they are a custom design built specifically for your vehicle for a specific purpose.
Other, larger, companies may be able to quickly assemble a set of thin tubing headers with thin flanges for $175.00 but they wont fit like ours, they wont be made like ours and they certainly wont last like ours.
Though I would love to be able to take care of the "DYI" crowd, I refuse to out-source labor to other countries and lower our quality just to make a sale. we do offer a "Lay-A-Way" program and I can say with certainty, the wait will be worth it for our products.

Thanks again all.

Thanks Dan. I can appreciate the extra cost in the stainless BBCs with it being such a new product for you. Would you consider grouping the BBC mild steel in with the SBC mild and stainless to meet the five order minimum, or ten order big deal? It will likely generate more orders for you.

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy

Whats the timeframe window for this group buy? How do we how many are ordered? Are there any sets made, or are they made as ordered?
I'm still in for a set of mild SBC. It would be great if mild BBC/SBC could be combined to get a 10 count.

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy

Since this just got started yesterday, we will give it until next Monday. Orders need to be called in to Steve, no billing will be done until the sale has closed. This will allow us to have a firm count and to let everyone know what the final discount is; $75.00 or $150.00.

As for combining the small block with big block, I'm sorry guys but I can't do that for a minimum of 5. 10 is pushing it. The reason is, I need to swap the tooling on the mandrel bender, set the machine up for eash tubing size, make adjustments, do test bends, make adjustments, etc. I am offering the discounts based on the fact I don't have to keep swapping the tooling. I can just do a small production run.

Once I get the quote for the stainless header flanges I can possibly allow a combination of stainless and steel for the BBC headers. Just for your info, even though the same 2" size is used for both stainless and mild steel BBC headers, the settings and adjustments are specific to the material. I can not bend stainless steel with the machine set-up for mild steel and vice versa.

At least call your orders in to Steve so we can get a firm count. But please be serious about purchasing. You have nothing to loose. If we don't see the minimum orders come in then no one pays a dime. If we do, then each of you will be contacted to let you know which discount will apply and then your cards will be paid once everyone gives their approval.

Any other questions about the way the Group purchase works, let me know.

As for the production schedule, we have tubing in stock in both 1 3/4" and 2" mild steel. 2" stainless is special order as well as the header flanges, collectors and V-band flanges/clamps. Once payment has been made those parts will be ordered. 3 weeks for material to arrive here and production. with shipping you are looking at 4 weeks to delivery for the stainless BBC headers.

Small block mild steel can go into production as soon as payments are received.

Thanks again.

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy

For those asking if we can merge the stainless BBC headers with the mild steel BBC headers to meet the 5 order minimum:

I received my quote for the laser cut flanges for quantities of 2 at a time. The flanges will cost me $99.74 each. That's $50.00 more per flange than if I ordered 10 to build five sets. So, yes, I'll allow you guys to merge for the minimum, but the list price of the stainless headers will increase by $100.00.

Let us know.
Thanks.

Would you guys let us know if you are close on any of these sets, just in case those of us that are on the fence may bite if the higher discount is available

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy

So far there seems to be quite a few "on the fence". We need you guys to at least call your orders in so we can get a count. Otherwise this wont go anywhere. No one will be billed a dime until at least one of the minimums is met.

Thanks all.

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy

I'll call on Monday for a set of BBC Stainless, I'm on vacation right now. I'll buy a set even if don't get the quantity for the GP. But I will be doing the Lay-A-Way to spread the cost out.

Bump. I thought there woulda been more interest than this. We've been clamoring for years for a set of headers that would fit a BBC in our trucks. It would stink if this fell thru due to lack of interest.

The cost and a lack of 4spd clearance killed it for me.

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy

This is just a thought, guys. While I applaud Clear Image for using American materials and an American work force, the fact of the matter is these headers are way out of my reach (price wise) and I would imagine for a lot of the other guys on here. I love the product. It is exactly what I have been looking for for a year or more, but once again with the piss-poor economy there seems to be a greater divide in folks now-a-days. There are the ones such as myself that have been hit hard and still see no light and there are those who didn't get hit (or haven't yet) and can still afford to shell out that kind of money. Once again, don't get me wrong, I am not putting down anyone, or this product, merely trying to inject an explanation. Due to my reduced income, paying more than 400.00 for a set of headers is out of reach, no matter how much I want them or how nice they are. I wish Clear Image luck and hope that everyone that can afford these luck with them.

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I understand the cost is higher than many of you are use to seeing for headers. There is a significant difference in quality. So much so, I offer a lifetime warranty on our headers. I don't think the Ebay companies, Jegs, Summit, etc will do the same. This of course does not cover rust but if, at any time, a weld were to crack, a tube split, etc we take care of it. Consider we have close, if not more than, 2,000 customers out there running our mild steel headers. This dates back 10 years now. We have done exactly 9 repairs. That's less than .5% failure rate. I'm pretty happy with that.

I don't normally offer this sort of thing, but it may help some of you get into these headers for more savings.

We polish every clamp mark and do 100% welds around both sides of the header flange. Most companies do not polish the clamps marks and either weld the face of the flange only, without finish porting or grinding flat, or do just a couple small stitch welds on the outside. If we were to NOT do the extra welding, grinding, and porting and NOT polish the clamp marks, it would shave $48.00 off the top. I say I don't usually offer to this because we have the repuation of being the absolute best in the markets we support. However, considering the lower cost headers currently available, I am pretty confident we will still come in at the top of the charts.

Other than that there really isn't anywhere else to cut-back and still offer, what we consider to be, a high quality product.

Let me know what you all think.

Thanks.
