My A/C Installation

I installed air conditioning on my '69. I'm absolutely loving it! It was 107 in Vegas today and I was as cool as a cucumber. The kit was from Old Air. I purchased it from a local vendor. The instructions were pretty straightforward, and very easy to follow. I did wander as I often do from the well guided path though. The center vent below the heater controls looks goofy mounted the way that they tell you to install it. I made a simple bracket from some 22g sheet metal. It's pop-riveted to the plastic housing, and attaches with the two big screws that hold the heater controls. This made a big improvement in the overall appearance.

I haven't painted it yet, but it's ready. I'm driving it to Reno for Hot August Nights this year. It will definitely be painted by then.

Re: My A/C Installation

Thanks guys I'm really happy with the way things worked out. One of the things I like was that it used, although modified the original controls. Until now my truck lacked all creature comforts or amenities. I don't plan on adding power steering, power brakes, or even armrests in the near future, but this A/C real nice!

Re: My A/C Installation

I had new window tint installed today. The direct sun through un-tinted side windows was rather brutal. It's much better now. They told me it would be legal for California. I sure hope I don't get hassled when I drive there this weekend. They usually don't bug you in NV. Probably sympathy.

First picture with these hubcaps, and my new grille insert.

Re: My A/C Installation

It is not legal in California....but I doubt you will be hassled. My wife's truck has limo black all the way around, installed in Vegas yrs. ago before she moved here. Never had a problem, cops roll by me all the time.
