Local Money Makers

I took a few pics a while back of a couple of trucks that frequent our local 'hot-rod & Harleys' joint (Kellers, Dallas TX, NW Highway @ Abrams).

The short fleet has been together many years & sports a big inch, high dollar power-plant. His wife also has a sweeeeeet 71/72 burb that's got a BBC, lowered, sano interior, & painted the OE dark Olive/white colors w/some cool pinstriping (they didn't have the burb there that night).

The S10 I don't know much about other than the word was it's just a 'little' faster than it looks. Both trucks were extremely detailed. I really liked the cage in the dime & the textured finish throughout....

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

I'm not sure on this one. I'll check next time I see it @ Kellers (he's a regular).

Re: Local Money Makers

Is the cage in that red truck legal at the track? I'd like to do my rollbar like that.

Re: Local Money Makers

We built a cage like that in an 85 S10. It ran a twinturbo SBC that went 8.20's and passed tech at HRP everytime. Anybody that has raced at HRP knows they STICK to the RULEBOOK. I am not sure, but if you dont run the regular down bar setup. You have to add a certain amount of tubing to compensate. Dont have a rule book in front of me so....

Re: Local Money Makers

I took the pic of the S10's bed area because I liked the way they tied the shock mounts into the bars into the rails. Ladder bar set-up on that one.

Re: Local Money Makers

I've seen the Red Truck in person at the last Super Chevy I ran (unless it has a twin) and it is a very nice piece. As far as the rollcage goes I think its good with a Funny Car cage .

Re: Local Money Makers

That chassis still hold s the 8.5 outlaw world record . Flaco is cool to saw him last friday at HRP. It was a steal at what they were selling it for .

Yeah, no problems with Flaco. Just dont see him as much as Garrett. That truck ran Mikey's ole' stock housing powerglide into the low 8's until Garrett wheelhopped it out of the burnout box at HRP and it chunked the tailhousing and driveshaft....
