Modifying Suburban doors to fit a pickup

Have any of you swapped pickup door tops (window frames) on to Suburban doors? I have a pair of rust free original 1970 Suburban doors tha I have no use for and my truck needs doors, any help would be appreciated.

PS, Sorry for the double post, I was not paying attention and first posted this in the parts section.

Thanks
Bill

I think burb doors are worth a little more than pickup doors. I would have to believe you could make a straight swap, or probably sell them for more than you could get your truck doors for. A lot less work that way.
If you become a subscriber you can post a Wanted to Trade in the classifieds, or even just outright sell the doors.

Truck doors are easy to find, burb doors are not. I would swap them out for truck doors at the next swap meet and walk away with a little extra money as well. That bieng said if you want to convert the burb doors over then I would drill out the spot welds on the door shell to the outer door channel. If you do that it should pull out. I would practice on the rusty truck doors and see if it will work. I have never done it but if I were to try that is the first route I would try. Good luck!

Where you're located, I can understand your dilemma. I grew up in NY and a "rust free anything" was hard to find.

Not 100% on this, but as stated above, there should be two spot welds (front and rear) and then there's a bead along the top (again front and rear), drill and grind those out and they *should* come out. Take a close look, you should see what I mean.

Mount your doors back on the truck, (take measurements BEFORE you take them out ) and you can "tweak" them for a real nice fit before final welding. Don't forget, depending on how you put them in, you can "tweak" them "in or out" compared to the cab/drip rail. Make sure your vent window and side windows fit and work well, then weld 'em back up tight.

I have swapped the tops before on them. I have on at the shop that I did that to. I will take a picture monday of it. As for the sub door worth more, I could sell 100 truck doors to 1 sub door. There is not alot of demand for them.
