newbie budget drop

whats up guys? i recently purchased a 84 chevy c 10 stepside and wanted to lower it. so i cut 2 coils out and removed two leafs out of the rear. i love the stance but the front end is resting on the bump stop perches.should i cut the perches out and put some low profile ones in? i am also going to lower the rear end another inch with some new shackles.any help would be appreciated.

Re: newbie budget drop

Hello from San Antonio!

You really need to invest in some drop spindles if you want the front end that low...

Re: newbie budget drop

I wouldnt cut off the bump stops. 2 coils is way too much to cut off. When you get back and before you drive the truck You need to just order a set of drop spindles and a dropped spring. ITs a lot safer to do it this way.

Re: newbie budget drop

what about lowered coils like summit has I think they have 3 inch drop coils. if that aint enough maybe cut like 1/2 coil or something?

But in order to do it right you'd want spindles and springs to go lower then 3 inches.

I would avoid 3" coils on these trucks, and you defintaly don't want to cut them. It won't ride good with a 3: spring but cutting one will be worse.

As mentioned the best way to lower one is cut "one" coil off the stock spring. Two coils is just too much and it will beat you badly. Save the greenies to get a set of drop spindles, and throw those cut coils away. Replace them with 2" lowering coils, or a stock spring with one wrap cut off.

Re: newbie budget drop

good info thanks for informing me. I thought of cheaping out on some 3 inch coils and be done up front. I knew cutting any would make it ride worse.
