I gotta ask, how do you guys know what your truck actually weighs? I can barely find scales to weigh myself.

Thanks guys, I'm wanting to know the weight of the truck itself. 4000-4500 sounds about right. That's what I was looking for. I'll be pulling "it" on a tow dolley if "it" will fit. I've got to get measurements, but I'll go to a JY to get that. Just wandering if "it" outweighed the tow vehicle. It doesn't! Did ya'll get that? Will post a pic in about two weeks when she's home. David

Re: 1/2T long wb truck weight?

haha hey man i just towed my 6200lb longbed 2wd from montana to souther TX on a uhaul car dolly loaded with a bed and other crap behind an 05 ford ranger 4x4 also loaded to the hilt. 1500 milesno issues sept horrible gas mileage. Also it will fit on the dolly the edge of the tire will just barely be to wide. It will strap down tho and be safe but FYI tho make sure you unlock the steering wheel cause the truck weighs to much for the dolly's wheel pad to pivot like it is supose to. good luck

Thanks for that info. Does your truck have 7 inch wheels or 8's. I actually thought about finding some stock steel 7's (or van rallies) and old tires at the junkyard to put on the dolley side(front only). The truck has the wide 8's on it, so I'm thinkin I'll have to do this anyway. BTW, the truck I'm going to get is one of those extended cab's

Buy some bulk dirt or gravel, you have to weigh in and out.

hotrod, you ain't kidding! Even with the junkyard skinnys on it; it just barely fit on the u-haul tow dolly! I didn't get a pic of it, thinking I might get a ticket or a lawsuit filed against me..... It just barely fit! No other issues with the 3 hour trip home. Here it is at his new home. Thanks for the help guys! David

Re: 1/2T long wb truck weight?

Don't tell U Haul what you are towing or they won't rent the dolly. I have used their car trailers to haul these trucks, the long bed will fit with a few inches to spare and they tow very nice, I think it costs about $20 more than the dolly on local rentals, oneway rentals depends on where you get it and where you are taking it. If you go with the dolly, tell them its a s10 truck you are towing.

Never mind you got it home...should have read the whole thread before running my mouth!
