Standard cab seat interchange years?

My father in law has an '86 K1500 farm truck with a seat that is worn down to the springs. He noticed a decent seat in my '89 K1500 parts truck and asked if they will interchange. Anyone know if it'll bolt up? Width different, holes need drilled, etc?

Thanks,

Derek

Re: Standard cab seat interchange years?

measure them if they are within an inch or two they should be able to interchange using the brackets from the truck you wish to put the seat into and some slight modification

indeed, IF you know your way around a welder, if the seat belts are attached to the seat and u get in an acudent /w/ crappy welds... SEE YA!

if u drill holes, make sure you use large washers on either sides /w/ 8grade hardware

Re: Standard cab seat interchange years?

The '86 is at my in law's farm 40 miles south of me and my parts truck is 20 miles north of me...hoping to find out if they interchange without all of that driving. The '86 is a farm truck on a hog farm...so I'm really hoping it drops in! lol

Re: Standard cab seat interchange years?

No, the seat from the 89 will not be a direct bolt-in to the 86. The 86 bolts to the floor via the feet on the slide tracks. The seat from the 89 bolts down by the frame itself, and the slide tracks are mounted to the frame.

It will fit, but you will need to drill new holes. Be sure to use a good mounting plate on the bottom of the floor similar to these:

This is what the frame on the 89 seat will look like:

These are for 73-87 buckets, but you can see how they bolt differently to the floor:

Thanks, that was extremely helpful! Are those mounting plates something you bought somewhere? I can make some but purchasing would be much easier than dragging my torch down to the JY to get some steel plate.
