ugly a$$ hinges on barn door of panle anything else?

I started the boddy work on my 69 panel today.Working one lower quarters rest.Thinking about shooting the body work screwing up jacka$$ who did it last.Sorry not point of this post.
I'm wondering if theres another way to hinge the rear barndoors.These hugea$$ hinges sticking out need to go.Sorry to any who love them(if ther are any).Was hoping someone else had changed them or seen them done.

Check out Wes' at Classic Heartbeats panel truck project. He has a set-up similar to what the old Astro/Safari vans have with the top solid window and the bottom doors split in the middle. Pretty cool lookin.

maybe I miss stated it .I don't want to get rid of barn doors just looking for another type hinge that doesn't stick out so far and look like crap(JMO).
