Re: '72 4x4 diesel

I have most of the mechanical stuff all done. I still have some small things to get done before I can drive it though. I still need to build my rear driveshaft, box the frame at my splice point, mend a brake line and then bleed the system, then take the bed off and get all my paint done. Weather has been crappy here, and this project is being done out doors. My Willys takes over the garage. I just finished installing a PSC HiPerf power steering pump on it and making a few mods to the front suspension. We have a huge offroad event at the end of Feb., so I'm getting the jeep ready for that.

The '72 does fire up and roll coal though!

Nab a few of them Taurus Electric Fan setups next time you are there; http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/taurus/

just cause it is full of modern bits doesn't mean there aren't good parts to be found

Re: '72 4x4 diesel

Well, she's up running and driving...MAN, what a peel out machine...it will sit still and pull 1st through 4th burning tires. I will try to get a video in the near future. I still need to finish running the exhaust, and get to work on finishing up the body and paint. I need to change both rockers and the pass cab corner out, then fix a couple of small dents...then paint! So far the drivtrain is awesome, it really hauls the mail, if I could shift it faster, it would be a pretty quick pick-up for having 1 ton drivetrain.

Wow! Great build! I don't know how I missed this. The 6.2/6.5 diesel swaps are gaining some ground. I sure love mine!

Re: '72 4x4 diesel

its been a while since i've worked on it much....jeeps keep following me home..lol I have actually thought about selling it since I havenet been messing with it much. I got both rockers changed out for new ones, and I mounted some H2 wheels and tires on it....they're close, but they dont rub at stock lift height. All I lack is repairing some small rust holes in the pass cab corner, and a lil body work on the bed for it to be finished, I just havent been into the project lately. I'll try to take some pics next week since I'll be on vacation.

Re: '72 4x4 diesel

Now that's kinda ironic, I've not got much done on my jeep lately as Chevy trucks keep following me home. They're both so addicting LOL. But seriously looking forward to seeing more on your truck!
