also, on any of these you look at, look on the roof, and inside above the windshield around and under the sunvisors for bubbles...this is a spot they rust out and is more difficult to repair....

and always check the cab mounts...

I am not a fan of primered trucks (for sale, I think they do look cool in primer) or "put together" trucks. Double whammy... walk away.

You said it has "some" bondo.My some and his may be different and primer can cover a multitude of sins.If you don't do bodywork then it could get expensive quick.I think I would be very careful or just pass on this one completely.It might make a good bomb around truck or OR rig but for your use I think i would try to start with more of what you want.

He had to have cut the frame or the wheels would be out of alignment with the wheel well openings as a 67-72 SWB is 115" wheel base and a 73-87 is 117.5".

2-1/2" would be really obvious. Look to see if the wheels are centered under the wheel well arch. If they are then the frame was cut and shortened.

You can easily modify the location of the back of cab frame arch to put it in the right spot to work with a 67-72 cab while you are correcting the wheel base. It will allow you to mount the bed with only 3/16" steel shims under the bed rails rather than having to run a 3" body lift to correct for the mismatched frame curves.

I am half way through this same project on my 67. I got the bed mounted yesterday and I should be building the new cab mounts today.

It is missing rear shocks and one of the front bump stops is broken off. I hope he wasn't driving it around like that.

you can get away with out shortening the frame on a lifted 4x4.... 2 1/2" is a lot, but you can move the cab and bed forward or back and center it up close enough.....didnt even notice the no shocks...lol
Its a decent truck to fix a few things and drive, but if your plan is to tear down and rebuild, I would just start with another truck.... if your going to do all that anyway, might as well just get a clean truck 2wd or not and do a frame swap yourself

I've done the 67 -72 body onto 70's 4wd swap. You end up with the appearance of the body lift because of the difference in the frames. That's also why the front bumper looks the way it does. I'd also say the cab is just a tad too far forward, hence the bend in the steering rod. The mirrors are angled because they are off 73 & up ( I have a beater with a set just like them!)

I'd say this was a "left over parts" build - red dash & arm rests, blue seat, 68 title, 72 cab, 69 -70 front clip. I'd want to "meet the feller that done it" or see evidence of good work.

But, several things would be warning signs to me - the broken stops & no rear shocks mentioned before, I noticed no e brake cable to the pass rear.

I'd say this is not any where close to a 4k truck. IF it runs exceptionally well, drives nice, has good tires, is solid body wise - especially underneath & in roof, and has other desirable qualities, I'd say $2500 or less maybe - but I'll bet he's too proud of it for that. On this one you'd better feel like you stole it, because there's some things that need attention.

I just noticed how close the transfer case shifter is to the seat.

If it is an NP205 you couldn't get that thing into 4 HI to save your life.

That is why I moved the back of cab frame arch rearward 10" on mine while I was correcting the wheel base. It allows the body to sit nearly 3" lower on the frame and the front bumper can be installed so it is very close to the stock position.

Mine will appear much more like a stock 4x4 rather than a square body frame swap.
