Washing new paint and..
Covering it. What kind of detergent is best for new paint? Also, is it safe to cover my truck with a cover or tarp? We're still working on my carport and just little tree junk getting on my truck from the constant rain . I live in N. Florida, so its hot and of course humid, if I cover it should I be worried about mildew?
Thanks y'all! junk

Re: Washing new paint and..
Hey Jody,
I would drop in at Advance Auto or what ever parts store is close and pick up a good brand of carwash product, not a household dishwasher stuff! As far as the tarp goes I would becarefull not to get 1 of those blue type tarps, they would scratch your new paint! Best of luck and enjoy yr ride........ Donnie

Re: Washing new paint and..
I agree with asking the bodyshop paint person. They know how long the curing process takes and what would be best to use.
I had a car painted some years back and I was told to let the car sit in the sun for several days and not to use any strong spray wash or rags to wash it with for several weeks. The paints are different these days and the "Paint and detailing" forum has some very knowledgeable members that should have an answer. I would do a search over there and see what comes up. |
