EMERGENCY! Need SHOCK Help! ASAP!
Hey guys,
Started my drop about an hour ago, And ran into a problem.. Well I pulled the rear shocks out of the boxes and they sent me the wrong shocks Anyways, I need to have this truck driving by Monday morning. Is there a good stock GM shock that I can pick up from the parts store that would be fine for about a week or so until I can get the correct ones? Its going to be about an 8" drop. I need to know ASAP! |

X2 - You can run without them just don't drive crazy and be easy on it.

You CAN run without shocks
I had a c10 that was lowered 4" and the rear shocks were absent, it was fine as long as you go slow over bumps

Re: EMERGENCY! Need SHOCK Help! ASAP!
theres a difference, Hondas R STUPID
but seriosly it is a good idea to have shocks but they're not mandatory, do what you can to get a new set but try driving it around the block without them just to get a feel for it.

Re: EMERGENCY! Need SHOCK Help! ASAP!
I used the Monroe chart two messages above to find the right shock. It looks confusing, but just find the right mounting style and then search the table for the length you want. Have patience.

Re: EMERGENCY! Need SHOCK Help! ASAP!
I have the rear shocks that were on the truck prior bolted up right now. Seems to be fine for now, just need to drive for about a week on them and they will be swapped out. Having trouble with the front spindles though, the lower ball joint is a PITA.

The ones on the truck now, extended are 23"s long, I was thinking if I can find a shock thats under 20"s extended that it would be alright for me to use with out bottoming out? |

Re: EMERGENCY! Need SHOCK Help! ASAP!
Are the stock ones bottoming out now? The overall extended length isn't as important as the total compressed length...this will tell you if they will work with your drop. Most drop shocks don't extend to the maximum suspension droop, they actually tend to "hold" the suspension to a maximum "hang".
