Re: Speedometer Gauge Problem Need Help

Odometer still works but the speedometer does not? I don't see how it could be anything but the gauge itself, but still weird that one works and the other doesn't.
Speedo's are fairly simple, gear in transmission, cable and then the gauge itself. Usually is the cable that goes bad, or the gear in the transmission.

Re: Speedometer Gauge Problem Need Help

correct. i know the speedos are simple but the fact that the odometer works but the speedo doesnt has me stumped. Was thinking of replacing the speedo cable from the gauge to the cruise control unit, since the one from the cruise control to the transmission is new. But dont see any need to because the odometer still works. Is there any one that rebuilds these gauges and sets the miles to what you want them to be??

Re: Speedometer Gauge Problem Need Help

Setting the mileage on these old style gauges is easy. Since yours is broke (so it seems), you could pick up a new gauge, or new to you at the bone yard, and play with your old one to see how it's done. It really is very easy to figure out and do once you open it up.
If you were local to me I'd hook you up, I bet I have like 8 speedo's now. Amazing how you collect things in such a short amount of time.

Re: Speedometer Gauge Problem Need Help

The thing is if i put another gauge me being me it has to be brand new or one that was rebuilt. But i look at gauges and the ones they sell only go up to 85 and look a lot different so im looking for a place who rebuilds them

Yours is a 100mph? LMC sells them. I bought one but am gonna send it back since I can't use it. I have no choice to keep my VSS in my 87. I really wanted 100mph too.
