Help!

Both my dad and I have have 1971 Chevrolet Cheyenne trucks with the optional sliding rear window. Both trucks have broken plastic clip/latch gizmos that lock the two pieces of glass together. I've searched repro companies (such as Classic Industries), searched auto parts stores, and searched the internet ... but to to no avail in finding a replacement clip. Thus ...

1. Does anybody know where to get a new plastic clip/latch?

2. I've seen in photos a '71-'72 sliding rear window with a metal clip/latch. Is this stock or something that someone has retrofitted to the vehicle? Anybody know where to get such a metal clip/latch?

Thanks,

John

Re: Help!

Check with Mike's Bump & Grind Garage (Board Vendor).
It seems to me, he mentioned having them the last time this question came up.

If I'm wrong.................oh well.

Re: Help!

Here is the link for the plastic one.
Plastic

And here is the metal one.
Metal

I would go with the metal one since they are more durable.

Re: Help!

Hotrod100,

Thank you so much for the info. I am going to order both versions today.

By chance have you personally used either of these replacement parts? The reason why I ask is that I got a replacement clip from Dorman that looked identical to stock, but it must be slightly (as in a few thousandths) small as each time I would try to latch it the new clip would snap off. I thought the Dorman clip might have been a bad unit ... so I bought another and it did the exact same thing.

I have the metal one. It fit perfect and holds extremely well.
