Alright first of all, my uncle who has built a few engines is advising me. I'm trying to learn though.
So far I've disassembled my 250 Inline 6 down to all thats left is the crank. The ridge in the cylinder wall can catch my fingernail, but I was going to have it bored .030 over anyway. So today I call the machine shop and he gave me a price to have it bored, honed, cleaned, new cam bearings, freeze plugs. He gave me a price of $220. Think this is fair?
Also what else should I have done? I'm already busting my 16 year old self's budget

If you are going this far, don't cheapen up on the cam bearings. They should be taken out for cleaning to prevent solvent clogging. I'm not sure about 6-250 engines, but on Chevy V-8 engines you need to align hone the mains.

I edited my first post, I don't know what I was thinking when he said cam bearings I was thinking ON THE camshaft, anyway I know what he meant now lol.

The price seems fair considering he will clean engine and install cam bearings and freeze plugs.
