Need help on carb ?'s please!!!
I am really trying to get this 1967 C10 short bed running for my wife but running into little bit of trouble. I was given the # F1208taj off my enigne and told it was from a 73-74 6-250 Chevy C 20&30 &K20 ,GMC ser C 25 &35 &K25. I need a single barrel Carb badly but not sure what year etc to buy! So can someone please lead me on the right track??? I am not sure if 67 had a manual choke or what on it. I know the broken carb on the truck has a big plastic dail on the front that says GM Rochester but it is broken on repair. I am ready to buy just need to know which model or correct info need to order it. Thanks Brandon

Re: Need help on carb ?'s please!!!
The stock carbs on the '67 trucks had manual chokes. The one on my truck is a from a '69 l6 250, it has an automatic choke operated by a coil in the manifold.
The carb I have has Monojet on the side of it. I think the LMC catalog has some pictures of the different carbs.

Re: Need help on carb ?'s please!!!
The LMC catolog shows 67 as a carter with a manual choke and 68-71 as a rochester and did have a manual choke. They also make an electric choke conversion kits. Hope this helps

Re: Need help on carb ?'s please!!!
I do know that the earlier auto choke units were not as reliable as the manual ones, as long as the driver remembers to open the choke

It doesn't matter who you buy from, these things are only rebuilt from a hand full manufacters. I like the rochester better, I feel the parts are more abundant.

Re: Need help on carb ?'s please!!!
I've bought single barrel carbs from O'Reilly's and Auto Zone in the past. It's easier to exchange if something is not right with them (which I've done).

Re: Need help on carb ?'s please!!!
You stated in the first post that this truck is for your wife. Will she be OK with a manual choke? You usually can't go wrong with either Carter or Rochester for a stock replacement. But I also agree that Rochesters are quite common. They are also very reliable. So that's my vote. If you can get an automatic choke, go for it. Less to worry about every morning when you (or wife) starts the truck half-asleep.

Re: Need help on carb ?'s please!!!
After talking to a company that rebuilds carbs for a living, the guy told me sounds like I have a car carb on the truck ( seems engine is not orginal). He recomms I mail him my carb and let the go through it fix a couple stripped bolts, rebuild, fix couple broken parts and do a bench/flow test (if you wanna call it that) and send it back for $200.00 but right now I am not sure what way to go here guys any help on maybe what I could/should do?
