Any ridge in the top of the cylinder? If not, a simple dingle hone and some new rings will be fine.

Was there any info stamped on the nose of the cam?

Well, just went out to check again, and there is a slight ridge. Figured as soon as I was able to see the cam nose, the numbers would be right there. Actually the nose looks rough (made like that I reckon) has a CC (one C stagerd over the top of the other C) and a 2 * 8 H (real rough where the middle number should be) Other numbers on the rear but can't make out all. Like 12 210 and 6698 across the bottom.

Hmm. Didn't think about the ridge the other day. Better to bore it .040 if there is any ridge at all? (think I know the answer)

Or...if you screw it back together and it squeezes decent compression, leave it be.

As for the cam...."CC"? Crane Cams? 2*8?....268, 288..those were grinds for chevys. Under the Crane Blazer series they had the 288H.


Crane H268 206*/206* @.050 268/268* adv. 112LSA, .448/.448 lift
rpm range 1500-4000

Crane Blazer H288 226*/234*@.050 288/296adv 114LSA .458/.473 (1.5 rocker) (this is technically a Pontiac grind, still looking for chevy numbers.)

Most info on an H288 Crane cam points to a solid lifter cam. I'd be willing to bet you have a 268.

it is a comp cam high energy 268. the 12-210 is the part #. if you need a good machinist in nashville pm me and i will give you a # to a very good one.

Way clean on the inside with blue head gasket material---not original---must have been a refresh at some time.
The RWS pellet guns are great--got any more--I have a 350---010. in the barn just hankering to trade for a RWS??? hehehehe

Was the only one I had Huck. Deff. was rebuilt, and bored .030 over. Was just surprized at how clean it was inside, considering it was FILTHY on the outside.
