Re: Copart Find....Does Anyone Recognize It

Looks pretty nasty. There even appears to be an Ipod laying on the front seat. I wonder if the person driving survived? It's weird they wouldn't have grabbed the Ipod once they made it back to look at the truck.

I thought that was the remote for the stero at first. Man, I dont know. What ever they hit, they hit pretty dang hard. Did you see where the bell housing on the tranny was still attached to the engine but the tranny was gone??

I think that's 1.7 miles...short trip ended very abruptly. I hope the driver recovers.

Re: Copart Find....Does Anyone Recognize It

looks like the starting bid is $35. the bed looks like it is ok that would be worth it and the rest you could sell for scrap and maybe get $150 for it

Re: Copart Find....Does Anyone Recognize It

Upon looking at the photo's more closley it looks like it hit a tree....look at the front end photo's and you can see how the front is kinda rounded out by the headlights. Still, that is a terrible thing to happen.

Re: Copart Find....Does Anyone Recognize It

Drive 1.6 miles and find the recently finished truck runs really fast.

Drive another .1 miles and find the brakes still have issues.

He had to hit hard to get that old metal to deform that much. No obvious blood splatters on the steering or dash so maybe he got lucky. I'd say there are usable parts on it, especially if it has a 4 link, after market tank, etc. Looks like a nice dash cluster too.

might be he never had the speedo hooked up. The 1.7 could be from factory.
It sure hit something hard.

Re: Copart Find....Does Anyone Recognize It

Im guessing that maybe it was parked and something hit the truck. I dont see any glass on the floor, but the front windshield is gone.

Re: Copart Find....Does Anyone Recognize It

Let me ask a dumb question....
What's Copart? Never heard of it. I looked around a little. Don't see any details at all on any vehicles except where they are. Repos? Insurance totals? The owners aren't involved in the auction?

The crushed area is the same size as a bridge support.

Re: Copart Find....Does Anyone Recognize It

seeing that it has no carpet, and there is no trim for the windshield(there wasnt one in before the crash), and no radio and just steely rims, ill bet/hope that he just had it painted or something and he had it parked in the street or on a trailer and someone nailed it.. hard

also i dont see a hole big enough for that motor to come out of after it was all said and done.. i dont think it had a motor when hit.. ive broken bell housings in half like that before so its not necessarily from the wreck..

i could be wrong tho..

Re: Copart Find....Does Anyone Recognize It

Maybe it was on a trailer being hauled somewhere and came off of the trailor. That wouldn't explain how the steering column got pushed up like it is though. Either way, I hope the best for the owner.

You have to make it whoa before you make it go.
Not much there to salvage. Hope the driver made it out.

Re: Copart Find....Does Anyone Recognize It

Funny, We didn't have the motor hooked up or a wiring harness on my son's '54 but we had full brakes all the way around...there's a reason for that stuff! And good straps on my tie down to the trailer when transporting it around...
