Re: Emblem Education

Wowser Too Much---that is true eye-candy!
As BlckButy mentioned, let the year to year- ID to ID begin!

BTW--love the GMC tags--sooo unique (the fact that one of our
rigs is a '67 Custom might influence that...

This is going to be such an awesome thread!!!!!!!!!

Re: Emblem Education

This is a neat thread. I never really knew that the Custom was a step down from the CST. I always just assumed they were one in the same. Good thread.

How about the Custom Camper emblems? I'm guessing the emblems that are square are 67-68, and the words by them selves are 69-72?

Re: Emblem Education

That is an awesome collection too much stuff, but what is the story behind the 67-68 C-20 emblem with the blue bowtie?

Re: Emblem Education

This thread should qualify for "sticky" status as it is a popular topic of conversation.

Interestingly, my dad was/is the original owner on his fully-loaded 1971 Chevrolet Cheyenne 3/4-ton longbed. The truck has remained original from day one and does NOT have the Cheyenne Custom emblems ... thus, according to the tech info listed it must have been built before April??

Re: Emblem Education

I think hood emblems are as follows: 1967 and 68 red bow tie on grill, 1969 and 70 blue bowtie on hood, 1971 and 72 blue bow tie on grill. I could be wrong on the 67-8 ones though.

Re: Emblem Education

Ryan is right on with the hood emblems, except 67-68. 67-68 Chevrolet's had small chrome letters that spelled out "Chevrolet" but did feature the red bowtie on the grille. 1968 was the first year that GMC emblems appeared on the hood, which continued through 72'. 1967 GMC's do not have the hood emblems spelling out the brand because 67' GMC's are the only year that the GMC was embossed into the grille.

Re: Emblem Education

I have a 71 custom camper/20 deluxe but a previous post says the deluxe didn't come out until 72. How can I verify that no 71 trucks had the deluxe?

I'm just asking for my own good, but is this truck correct? I keep seeing the 67's like this with the red bow tie in the center of the grill like I remembered. Is that the way they came from the factory?

67-68 Chevy trucks came stock with a red bowtie in the grille but their hood emblem is chrome letters that spell Chevrolet.

Ok, I get it now. Thanks. The 67-8 emblems are the letters.
