Speedo sticking
So I've replaced the speedo cable and it worked fine for quite awhile, now it is sticking so when I stop it stays at like 10 mph but when I back the truck up it will go down to zero. Does anyone know what is with this thing?!?!?! it's really starting to piss me off!!
Thanks in advance |

Re: Speedo sticking
I suspect the speedometer assembly.
Uou can lube the cable to see if it helps but the cable never actually touches the speedometer needle. The cable turns a magnet inside a free spinning assembly. Eddy currents created by the spinning magnet turn the assembly and the needle. I suspect it's the spinning assmebly that's sticking. I've never actually taken them apart to see if there are lube points. I've replaced them in the past. |

Re: Speedo sticking
the cable's brand new..so I know thats not the problem. 68gmsee that sounds like what might be happening, so I'll see if I can fix it and if not I have a spare!

Re: Speedo sticking
This happens when the lube gets old and sticky. It is fixable, but you will need to disassemble the speedo so you can clean and oil the pivot points.
