Re: Trailing arm question

If you are asking about the control arms, the things that hook to the frame and to the rear end they are interchangeable. The 3/4 has a plate welded on it making it a little stronger.

Some people call them trailing arms and some call them control arms, most call them trailing arms though I think.

The LMC catalog is a great reference with pictures for such things.

Re: Trailing arm question

Glad I could help. That is one of the things I have had to learn when I started working on these old trucks. What things are called, it seems to depend on where a person comes from and their experience level.

Since I did not know a lot when I started and at times still don't I ordered manuals and catalogs. I am a little unusual in that I had rather read a repair manual than a novel.

In my previous life I had to read tech manuals a lot.

The people on this site have really helped me.

This is a little off subject, but not much. When my son, the mechanic, and I are working on stuff I get a little confused because he describes bolts by head size and I by bolt diameter.
