1st build
This is my first hot rod build. I have restored cars a long time ago but nothing lately. I am retired and now have time. I plan on doing the build with my 2 sons and 2 grandsons. I just purchased a 54 GMC cab on an S10 frame that someone else started. It came with lots of parts. 53 Chevy fenders, grille and hood. I removed the 4 cyl. engine and tranny and will be installing a SBC. I am attaching a few pics and will update this thread as we go along.

Re: 1st build
Thanks guys. I sure feel welcome here already. I plan on building this into a rat rod that I will only be taking to cruises. I winter in Florida and there are cruises almost every night there so my plan is to take it back and forth from Ny to Florida with me in the winter. I'm tired of being a spectator!!!!!

Re: 1st build
Actually we live about an hour west of Orlando in Brooksville. Went to the rat rod show at Garlits Museum last year. Was a fun show. Plan on making it to Olde Towne next winter.

Re: 1st build
Welcome, it looks like a good start. Take a look at similar s-10 w/ v8 builds here, its a pretty tight fit. If I remember right electric pusher radiator fan is mandatory and exhaust is a challenge.

Re: 1st build
Today we tack welded in motor mounts to see how they will work. I took the old mounts out of the Camino parts car. Took forever to get the motor level and even on both sides. We only tacked the mounts in to be sure this is where they need to be when we put it all together. As you can see the top of the mount is a little long. We plan on welding a brace down to the cross member when finalizing everything.

Re: 1st build
Sorry I haven't updated this post in awhile.I've got quite a bit more done on the truck. Cleaned up the frame and put POR15 on it. Built a tranny mount and got that installed. Had to cut the input shaft and throw out bearing shaft to make the trans fit the old 307 bell housing. Won't know how that works until I get the driveshaft cut and build the manual clutch linkage. I have the body stripped down to bare metal and have started fixing dents and rust. I purchased a 55 Chevy for parts and will probably start a build with my sons on that cab also when this is done. Here are a few pictures I took.
