Bench Seat Problems
So I cannot slide my bench seat forward. After looking underneath the seat I found the wire? going from one end to the other is broke and does not have the s clip in the middle of the seat to hold it.
Is this the only thing preventing the seat from sliding forward? Is there a replacement repro for this? Thanks |

Re: Bench Seat Problems
Just go to a hardware store, buy some wire, and an s hook. Take the seat out, and lube the brackets so they slide easy. Adjust the brackets to the front, and Install the wire, and the s hook. You will have to adjust the wire to the correct tension for it to work correct. Good luck

Re: Bench Seat Problems
If you are careful not too kink it you may get by with what they call bailing wire. Available @ Farm similar to what they use for bailing straw and stuff.

Re: Bench Seat Problems
I don't have a pic of what it attaches to, but should be obvious if you have the seat out. They should have some of the bailing wire stuff in Lowes/ Home Depot, just center both rails into even spots on the track and get the wire stretched snugly. If you are missing springs or something in the release mechnism you might need to get those parts from a junk seat on the parts board that someone has.

Re: Bench Seat Problems
If the wire kinks just straighten it with needle nose pliers.

Re: Bench Seat Problems
I'm subscribed. I have all the springs and the wire too. I need a diagram of how they all fit together. The PO had this thing tore up!!! Any diagrams or schematics out there?

Re: Bench Seat Problems
X 2. I used a straightened out coat hanger to replace mine, stronger than bailing wire. Still working 4 years later.
