Snappy Lube - beware!

I was off this morning due to weather, so I took my 2000 GMC sierra for an oil change at Snappy Lube service center. They tried the usual mess of trying to sell extras but that is how they make their money and I understand, I don't like it but I understand. 15 minutes later i hear my truck crank up so I get ready to pay. I hear the engine stop and the hood slam, truck is cranked again and again I hear hood slam, and once more the engine is shut off, recranked and the hood slammed for a third time, The "manager" pulls it out in the parking lot and I see him messing with the front end. He sees me looking and motions for me to come out. As I walk out I see him holding the grill surround in his hands. He looks at me and states your grill broke. He procedes to call his district manager, who states and I quote "Its plastic, plastic breaks". The district guy will not speak directly to me during any of this. The manager tells me he will pay out of his pocket, and that he gets paid on monday. I did not feel that he should pay out of his pocket, and if it had not been for the statement made earlier by the district guy, I probably would have let it go (replacements are cheap and the chrome was starting to give up on the plastic). I tell the manager to have the district guy call me personally within 30 minutes and leave my number. I return home and set the timer- yes the timer (i was pissed by now) and wait. While I wait I google their coorperate info and send email to head office. Needless to say district guy does not call, so I call shop again and ask for and recieve the district guy's cell number. I call him no answer goes to voice mail, so I leave a message questioning what he plans to do to handle this situation. Within 5 minutes the shop calls back and its the manager saying the district guy apologizes and they will purchase me a used grill and offer to throw in a few free oil changes as well. I got on line and looked up new pieces and called them back with prices of both new and used and am now waiting to see what how they handle this. I would not have mad about the whole thing except for the district guy's attitude and handling of the situation. I feel like they would have tried to cover this up if I had not noticed and if I had not pursued they would have done nothing. In a time where businesses are struggling to keep doors open you would think they might rethink some of the bs customer service they don't have. So long and short spread the word and beware of Snappy Lube service sites. HShepard

Re: Snappy Lube - beware!

I here ya,
Its a shame that the district manager wouldnt take care of the situation when he should of, you should call the big wigs and ask them why they keep this guy on their payrolls when he discredits their company image. Usually when you start talking about professionalism, people listen, usually.

I was getting two tires done at pepboys here this week and the kid tried to bring me my tires unbalanced, I guess he thought that I didnt know how to read the balance machine display, when I ask him to do it again, he gave me a big story of how no manager or asst manager will work there and how he didnt have wheel weights to do the job right. They were all back ordered. Sad, they also ran out of valve stems. Needless to say i wont go back there and they owe me two of the right stems. I dont think you can trust anyone anymore.

Re: Snappy Lube - beware!

Up date, the store manager calls and says his district manager has decided to let me buy a new grill and they will reimburse me for it. I have yet to hear for the district guy personally and I definitely will not do business with this company again after this feasco.

I wouldnt pay out of pocket for anything. It seems you will end up in small claims court for this one. Its hard to believe corporate hasnt done anything about it yet

Re: Snappy Lube - beware!

Update, They offered to buy a used grill shell, then they could not find one, tried to cheap out then buy me off with free oil changes. Grill is fixed and truck is back, but I will never, go back. I was really surprised that the corperate office never contacted me back - well maybe not considering how their store(s) operate. I still stand by my first statement- BEWARE!!!!

Re: Snappy Lube - beware!

hearing this I just do not believe they do the job they say they do!!!!!!! did you check and see if they even checked the level of your differential? last time I went to one of these "quick lube type places" there was so much dirt in the square drive of the plug you knew they never looked!!!

Re: Snappy Lube - beware!

most fast lubes dont check the diffs anyway. 90 percent of my customers dont want me to touch their's for some reason? so if they don't ask me not to i do check them i found one the other day that was empty the guy was complaining about noise he had just hauled a 25 ft tailor loaded about 3000 miles needless to say the diff was burned up

Re: Snappy Lube - beware!

This proves my point I have always felt. Never leave your car/truck anywhere that you can not watch the work beening done. (Maybe dealer better standards)

Would you take your kid to the doctor and leave to come back later?

I sure would not.
