Question 71-72 rear end - measurement?

I'm getting my donor rear end ready for change over to 5 lugs. I just got new brake lines from inline tube. In talking with them we determined that I needed the lines for the 72 rear. I test fit them and they seem to be a little too long. For the 72, the lines meet the brake hose at the carrier, they said the 71 joins on the passenger axle tube.

I'm asking for a measurement from backing plate mounting flange to flange. I get around 58".

And just for kicks I measured the rear in my truck (its a 70) and it was the same. I know that 70 was a transition year for the rear end widths. So do I have a 70 wide rear in my truck? Or were the rear ends about the same length with the later years having longer axles.

The axles for the donor are definitely the longer version (31 5/16" which matches the length of stock replacement 71-up axles).

I suppose that the brake lines may have a little give to them but it sure looks like rear on my donor should be an inch wider for them to fit.

Also if anyone has a pic of a 72 showing the where the lines meet the hose I would appreciate it. I don't have the bracket that attaches to the carrier.
Kinda confused. Thanks in advance.
