booster/master cylinder question

I would like to flush mount a 9" brake booster to the firewall on my 72 Blazer. I know I have seen someone do this, and would like to know what parts I need, and how much fabrication I am in for. THANKS

Re: booster/master cylinder question

Cparman,

I believe your talking about mounting something behind the dash, so that the firewall is smooth? I plan on running this, unless I find something better in the very new future. This is made by "Kugel Komponents" they may have what you are looking for.

Re: booster/master cylinder question

cparman... this isn't exactly what you asked for, but I recall n2billet using a Fiero booster on Lucy which helped to pull in the M/C.

I didn't know you were working on a Blazer, good luck with the build!

Re: booster/master cylinder question

You can mount one similiar to this one...http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-760121/
I ran one like that on my 63. The 63 is a little different then the 67-72. I'm about to do it though to a blazer. When I looked I think you need to knock out the existing studs because they are off set with the rod. You will need to drill new holes to mount the new booster to your firewall. There might be some fabricating to make it right though. I believe the 4 studs you need to knock out hold the brake pedal and rod assembly under the dash. You will need to check and make sure your ratio does not change. It shouldn't though.

Re: booster/master cylinder question

I'm pretty sure Scottshotrods has a sideways bracket for sale like that, I think they had a group buy on here awhile back.
I was right, I found the group buy thread here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=323558

Re: booster/master cylinder question

That's the new trend I've noticed on the most recent 'crop' of publicized builds. I like the look if there's firewall symmetry. On a big flat surface like a simple (basic) smoothed GM truck firewall, it might not look right w/o other mods.

Mark, doing anything like that on the 'shop truck'?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
