If you scrape the grease and crap off by the diff cover it should say what it is... looks like a 60 to me.

Re: need help identifying axle ( pics)

Looks just like the front end of my V30. A M60 set up for dual wheels. It's got the spicer hubs and the steering stablizer too. Check close that the tapped holes in the housing for the right spring mounting are ok. A lot of nut cases just torch burn them off. Kinda messes things up.

Re: need help identifying axle ( pics)

The two bolt holes on the pass side leaf mount tell me Dana60 because a Dana44 take four U-bolts and the 60 only takes three, it uses regular bolts in that area. The "60" should be stamped into the main casting portion around the outside of the diff cover housing, in one of the corner areas.

Re: need help identifying axle ( pics)

Too bad it's a dually, single hubs are getting hard to find.

Re: need help identifying axle ( pics)

It's currently set up for a dual rear wheel truck. There should be plenty of research on the web on how to convert it to a single wheel hub, plan on spending some more $$$ to rebuild and get ready to run. That's why most SRW axles go for $1,000+ and the DRW's are a little cheaper. Still a nice find.

vtblazer has built a few of these, look for some of his builds.

Re: need help identifying axle ( pics)

The front hubs on a one ton m60 come in two types: The offset type, which is type in your picture and the regular type. The offset type is to be used on a dual rear wheel truck as so the same wheel/tire can be used front or rear. You can change the hubs to a single rear/standard type if you wish. or use it with the offset type rims from a dual-rear-wheel truck I run a V30 which came with dual wheels as new. I left the front end as is and had spacers made for the GM 14 bolt rear and use the same wheels as the front. The rear whees are installed just as the front and the track is close.

Re: need help identifying axle ( pics)

hmm from what i have read its a pain in the ass to find cheap single hubs.
I dont really know if i want to run wheels with diffrent offsets
I am running 38's on my truck i think if i have one deep dish and one non deep dish it would just look foolish

Re: need help identifying axle ( pics)

Get the matching rear and run some H1s. With the offset they have, you can run them and the tire will stick out like a regular single rear truck would.

Re: need help identifying axle ( pics)

You can usually purchase new hubs for around $300 to make this a SRW axle again.
