'70 K10 throwout bearing
Pulled everything apart to replace a very noisy throwout bearing, got a new one from Autozone (Timken 614018). When I got home and looked at the new one, I noticed it had a little pin going across the groove where the release fork rides. It would in theory keep that portion of the assembly from spinning, I guess, becase the pin would hit the fork. My old bearing doesn't have the pin. What's the deal?

I don't know what the deal is, but on mine it didn't have the pin you describe as well.

Re: '70 K10 throwout bearing
I found the bearing from my '72 parts truck with surprising ease. It seems good, so I'm going to go against my better judgement and repack it and run it. It should last as least as long as it takes me to wear out my already kind of tired engine. I'll have it all apart again soon enough..

Re: '70 K10 throwout bearing
The throw out bearing I got had an oblong shape to the center area to achieve the same purpose as the pin you have on your new part. Maybe it is a design improvement.
