ID this t-case stick

My '70 burb is a 2 wheel drive body on a 4x4 frame, which I figured out after I bought it. It is on a 67-72 burb frame, but I don't know what year. Maybe the trans case stick is a clue. This stick comes out at an angle to the side, kind of aiming at the driver's right calf. It took a 5/8" wrench for the bolt holding it on. The bolt holding the stick on my '72 parts truck takes a 15/16" wrench. The '72 linkage also seems beefier than what is on the '70. But both are 205/465 trucks. Anybody recognize this stick?

Re: ID this t-case stick

Never had a reason to pull mine apart, but my t-case shifter points at and rubs my right calf in my 70 K1500. It's a 465/205 truck as well.

Very similar to mine...
My set up is a 68 K20 burb, with a SM465 and Rockwell T221.

That is a 1970 only np205/manual trans 4x4 shifter. There were 2 kinds of 70' 4x4 shifters in 70'. One extreme bend for manual trans trucks, and one for the automatic. Here is a pic. Trevor

Re: ID this t-case stick

Excellent. If it's the right one, I'll definitely leave it. I like the location of the '72 stick better, but it ain't coming off anytime soon anyway. I spent about an hour tonight spraying it with PB and cursing at it, but apparently the bolt is rusted to the stick.

My wife drove the '72 alot, and the first thing she said when we got the '70 was "you need to bend that thing back over where it belongs."

Re: ID this t-case stick

yeah the 71-72 transfer case shifter's are bent differently than both of the 70' models. It is bent to come up more on the passenger side of the hump, as the 70' is directly behind the manual shifter on the 70'. This equals to a different hump between the years. Trevor

Have to agree with Trevor...I've had 3 1970s with 4 speeds and all had that same shifter.

So it was a 1970 only thing? Huh, learn something new everyday.

Re: ID this t-case stick

Yeah, it is Critter. The 71-72 only have one shifter. It was pushed over more to the passenger side of the hump, so there is no interference with shifters hitting each other. Trevor
