Can't get my Windshield Wiper Arms off!
Can anyone give me some pointers on how to remove the wiper arms on my 72 Burb? Can't see a cotter pin etc. Thanks!

Re: Can't get my Windshield Wiper Arms off!
Welcome to the board!
There are no pins typically, and the way I pop them off is by placing a piece of wood wrapped in cloth to protect the painted surface of the cowl. Then pry gently in a uniform fashion around the wiper arm pivot, keep in mind to try to "lift" the arm off squarely since it is a tight fit. Also take a bath towel and roll it up thick enough 4 or 5" to place under the wiper blade, so that you can even up the pressure on the pivot. (The arm is spring loaded with pressure against the glass, this puts an angled pressure point on the pivot and will make lifting it off harder). Also, you may want to protect your hood with a moving blanket. Since it's been my experience no matter how many wiper arms I have popped off, that they spring away from you and bounce off the hood. EDIT: The pivot pieces are of low grade metal, and the wiper arm portion that is pressed onto the pivot is of pot metal. So you could have some corrosion, so you may want to spray some penetrating oil in there (which is difficult, since you need to spray upside down to get to the pivot contacting area).

Thanks! I'm going to the garage tomorrow and I'll give it a try.

While holding the blade off the glass, lift from the side opposite the side that the arm sticks out .
