Re: 4.88s or 5.13s?
It has nothing to do with "tubbed, spool, c-clip elims, moser axles". It does depend on the height of your tires, transmission of choice, and the profile of the cam.

Re: 4.88s or 5.13s?
NOt sure what your engine combo or trans your running, but I did think one time it would be cool to swap in some 5.13s (5.14) in my chevelle with a nine inch rear an th350. Man did it kill all the fun with that car I did not find it cool or fun cruisin at 40 mph on the road at about 4 grand lol. If this is a street toy definatly not 5.13's unless your runnin the 33/18.50 sportsmans then maybe, but the 4.88 still would be a better choice.

Re: 4.88s or 5.13s?
motor is a 355 stroker.
rpm range of the cam is 3500-8500, same as intake, 3500 stall, built 350 turbo trans, pretty much for drag racing tires are 33x19.5s its for racing, but will take it on the street a few times. btw, sorry for the lack of info haha Last edited by dbmx66; 07-31-2010 at 01:02 AM. |

Re: 4.88s or 5.13s?
Based on that info, I would think that 4.88's would be deep enough. Since your not running an OD transmission, 5.13's are going to get you out of the hole, but may be too much on the top end.

Re: 4.88s or 5.13s?
![]() If you plan on running the 1/4 mile you might want to go with the 4.88's. With 5.13's you might be up against the limiter going through the traps..just my two cents... |

Re: 4.88s or 5.13s?
5.13s sound like way to much,i have a 78 c10 stepside,with a similar rear set up as what you want,narrowed,spool,c clip eliminators,moser axles,but i got 29x18.5 tires,and 4.11 gears,so far i havnt raced it on the 1/4,but just from on the street,even the 4.11s seem a lil high
