Paint scheme
guys I am having trouble deciding on a paint scheme for my 67 sub 4x4.I am thinging I want to go with a 2 tone color, with dark metallic main color such as patriot blue or a burgundy/maroon maybe even forest green but I cant decide on the second color.I dont want to go with white it is too much of a contrast,as black would be too dark.If I went with patriot blue I could use silver, but beyond that I am at a loss I would appriciate any suggestions

Re: Paint scheme
Not sure of the colors you are thinking about, can you post some examples?
Personally I'd paint that burb with 1967 or 1968 factory colors, and go with the original white top scheme. You'd be surprised as to how many compliments those colors get in the real world on the road.

Re: Paint scheme
I like the current combo you have. Blue with the white top. There are some good examples in the pictures thread.

Re: Paint scheme
go with the current blue and white scheme you have now.
My appologies to the owner for stealing your pictures You could add the suburban's belt line trim below the window line, or paint a subtle stripe there for an additional touch.

Re: Paint scheme
there is nothing wrong with the originalcolor paint or their schemes, everyone likes them and does them.I want mine to be different. I saw one that caught my eye as it did everyone elses ,but I dont know how to import it from the burb picts #73,has the right shade of green and I like the light gold on the top. I could see mine like that,I just dont want to be a copycat if you get my drift.

Re: Paint scheme
Go back to that photo you like, and right click on it with your cursor. Then save as <burbcolorilike> to your desktop, then come back here and then attach the image just like you did on your burb photo.
Simple as that!

Re: Paint scheme
I agree with the original color scheme or perhaps Porsche Riviera Blue with the white top and a clean thin graphic at the body line above the door handles almost flaring out at the rear of the truck

Re: Paint scheme
Any of those colors you were talking about would look good with a metallic "gun metal" gray. Something a touch darker than the everyday silver.
Look at current cars on the road, and see what colors catch your eye, in real world conditions (Day/Night, Natural/Artificial lighting). Then check their factory paint codes. You'd be surprised what you come up with. On my last project, I looked at green paint samples for months and could never make-up my mind. Then I noticed a 2003 Land Rover (in Kent Green Metallic), and new it was the color. It wasn't even close to what I was leaning towards. Biggest thing....... It's your truck. Do what fits your style, and don't be swayed by the naysayers. You will be happy in the end. |

Re: Paint scheme
I'm partial to the original colors - but you should do what makes you happy. That said definitely see if you can find real world samples of what you're thinking (magazines, online, etc) - color combo can be very tricky - colors act very different when next to each other. Another thing to think about is a white/light roof will keep things cooler inside (a LOT cooler).
