'72 Jimmy "3 Drop Spindles
I bungled into a pr. of Belltech "3 drop spindles..... how much will "3 spindles lower the frt. w/stock springs? Cut a coil? will the stock shocks be OK? Have 275X60's on truck rallys all around & hate to buy tires if I can help it. How 'bout the rear to make it sit level? THINK CHEAP & EASY........ this thing needs a LOT of other stuff too.
THANKS IN ADVANCE

Re: '72 Jimmy "3 Drop Spindles
3" drop spindles should lower is 3"...no shock changes necessary, but you'll probably need to change the BJ's unless they are set up to handle those spindles...I've always read that the 3" spindles are for 73+ BJ's.
To level it out, you'd want to go at least 4" or maybe 5" in the rear, and I"m pretty sure you can get rear springs in either, but shocks and shock relocators are recommended. As for cutting coils, I don't have any experience on how much this actually drops it, so I can't really help there.

Re: '72 Jimmy "3 Drop Spindles
Tubbed 11,
I'd looked at the BELLTECH application chart about the #3120 spindles before I bought 'em.... I've bought a "FEW" parts and pieces I couldn't couldn't use in rhe last 40+ years. ... You scared me about the '73 & later tie rod ends and BJ's. The ones I bought are #3120. Did a google search on the part # and the following post came up... so I feel better.. I think. Don't want to change to '73 stuff if I don't HAVE to. Guess I'll do some measuring and see if 3" will be enough. THANKS (" #4 Evs-One Registered User Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Vancouver, WA Posts: 16 Re: Belltech spindles for 71 - 72? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3120 is the part# for the 71-72 spindles, supposed to be 3" drop. 3100 is 73+...the instructions for the 3120 don't even show a 3120 on the install sheet, but they are stamped 3120. I had a nice long conversation with a KW employee(KW owns Belltech now) about the fitment.")
