The 53 cable has the same end fittings as the 64, but it may not be long enough to reach the transfer case. It won't cost you anything to find out.
The tach connects to 12V power, ground, and the (-) terminal on the coil. If it has a separate lead for the light, that one goes to the dash light circuit. This is if you have a stock distributor.
