Window removal tricks/tips?

Of all the years I have spent working on cars and trucks I have never pulled fixed glass out of a vehicle yet. So I am approaching that time with my cab, and I am looking for any suggestions to make this as easy and clean as possible. My thought was to take a box knife (retractable razor) and cut along the weather striping and just pull the glass out, will this work? The rear window is in good shape and I would like to use it on the restored truck, but the windshield is shot. The plan there was to cover the glass in duct tape (to keep glass from getting all over the shop), cut the seal and remove glass. Am I on the right track with this, or is there a better/easier way?

Re: Window removal tricks/tips?

Yes,that's how I did mine
for the most part the laminate will keep it together
On the rear, same thing, even after pulling out the lock strip I still had to cut the old hard rubber to get it out,I left a couple of small sections across the bottom so it wouldn't slide onto the floor, then just hinged it out from the top
