installing driveshaft into turbo350?

i must be missing something and need your help. trying to put the drive shaft back onto the turbo 350, and it goes about an inch and that's it. i know the drive shaft has a spleen section, but can't seem to find the matching location on the tranny. what am i missing?
does it require some friend taps of a mallet?
any other tricks to try?

thanks

Re: installing driveshaft into turbo350?

I had the same problem with mine. I wailed on mine with a hammer and had no luck. Almost never got it back off.

Then I discovered the "Master spline" as I called it. You can feel a pair of raised splines on the tailshaft. Mark where it is on the tailshaft. Then feel the slip yoke there will be a notch. Mark it.

Simply align your notches and it should slide right on. Lube with trans fluid for a little help also.
