This a good stereo?
I'm 100% new to stereos. All I'm looking for is something that looks good. But I still want to be able to hook up some 6 1/2 inches, 2 subs, 2 tweets, and make my stereo slap... but first I need a stereo... lol
Is this good enough? http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu..._XDMR7700.aspx |

Re: This a good stereo?
If your not limited to a shaft style "stereo" or head unit, I'd spend as much as the budget allows. Personally I'd pass on a duel.

Re: This a good stereo?
I would pass on that as well.
I've had good luck with many of the lower $ Pioneers and a JVCs. If 100 is all you can give the JVC in the link is a better choice. But I'd save a few more pennies and get something out of the 175-200 price point. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Z5O50ju...ir=FFCategory|[rank266150]Car+Stereos+%26+Components

Re: This a good stereo?
id pass on it as well. pretty much every sound board at walmart or canadian tire that had them, they were either falling apart, missing buttons, or didnt work all together. entry level decks from alpine, pioneer, jvc etc would be more reliable

Re: This a good stereo?
The Polk stuff I've heard in cars were quality. Never heard their subs, and their speakers were being run with quality amps and eclipse head units. Back when eclipse was the top dog. I've been out of the automotive stereo stuff for awhile so I'm not sure who is considered the best.
As long as they are all in good shape, that doesn't sound like a bad deal. |

Re: This a good stereo?
Oh, and stay away from duel, it will affect sound quality, but not the way you want. Seriously, save a few more pennies and buy something a little better.

Re: This a good stereo?
Man, Thats a pretty good price on the polk momo stuff & it is good quality the only prob. is if your putting the equip. in a c10 forget about the subs their useless. You'll need some flat piston subs like these examples
pioneer ts-sw3041d ts-sw301 kicker [usually a little more expensive] 07cvt12-4 jl audio [a little more] jl13tw5 All these subs will fit behind the seat w/ it back all the way. as far as head units go,you need to stay w/ a tried & true brand. My shop gets roped into installing cust. supplied b grade units [dual etc.]from time to time & it NEVER ends well. You can get a quality brand head unit Like Pioneer, kenwood, alpine etc.. for under 200.00 even closer to 100.00 if you look hard enough. I have never ordered from this site before but the sell some stuff cheaper than I can buy it for. http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/ |

Re: This a good stereo?
sweet deal, now that your looking for a deck, since you have 2 amps. try finding a decent deck that has at least front and rear pre-outs most likely wont find one with a sub out in a low price range

Re: This a good stereo?
FWIW, I know you're asking about a receiver, but you might do a search on "Dealercostcaraudio.com" before you make a purchase from them. I have no experience w/them personally, but have heard (and read!) many horror stories.
Most of those receivers you posted would work just fine.

3337 S Bristol Street Suite #211
Santa Ana, CA 92704 United States 1-877-290-DCCA (3222) I haven't talk to anyone from there yet. It seems to be an automatic recording that says "we have too many calls, cant get to you right now" and the recording pops up almost immediately. SCAM IMO |

Re: This a good stereo?
Normally you want a deck that has at least 3 sets of rca preouts.1 set for the front,1 set for the rear & a non fading set for the subs. The higher the voltage running on the rca's the better, you wont get noise from other acc's.that are wired close to the rca's if the voltage is up around 5v.
I dont know what you recieved w/ your deal but your gonna need 1 set of 4 channel rca's that will go from the back of the deck to the main amp that will pwr. your 4 stereo speakers inc. the tweets & 1 set of 2 channel rca's that will go to the sub amp hope this helps Mac |
