Hidden Hitch on 60-66?
I am wanting to eliminate the rear most crossmember on my '63 Short Step to make more room for a fuel tank. Is it possible/good to use a trailer hitch to replace that crossmember? It seems redundant to leave it if you have a good solid hitch.
I like the idea of a hidden reciever, like you see on '67 and up. Have any of you seen one or done this on a 60-66? Built Custom made recievers?? CaptainFab?

Re: Hidden Hitch on 60-66?
Were making a hitch the old way with 1/2" X 2 1/2" flatbar.
Using a Hidden Hitch as a rear frame brace would support the bottom but not the top from twisting. May I suggest if you go that route you put a flat bar across the top of the frame to prevent it from spreading. Perhaps cap the end of the frame to prevent twisting.
