Keeping A/c while laying on 22's
Is it possible to relocate the factory A/C under the dash? I realize that it could be a lot of work, but could it be done? Has anyone modified the factory configuration under the hood to make this work? Pics please.

To answer your question specifically we will need to know "what" 22 you plan on running. Regardless of specific size, you are asking a lot to truly lay out and keep the factory a/c. I did modify a factory fan and housing to clear a set of 245/45/20's, but that was just to lay crossmember. If your wanting to lay frame, plan on buying an aftermarket a/c system.

N2TRUX, I hear what you are saying. I actually was thinking laying cross member but it came out laying frame. Could you please enlighten me on what is needed to obtain the results that you ended up with?

I don't recommend going this way. It was a snowball mod, that just kept getting bigger, and bigger.

What about adapting a different AC set up? Might be some work, but might be loads cheaper.
I know in my 98 tahoe, nearly everything is under the dash/ the footwell of the passenger side. Theres a ton of these trucks out there. If youve got a u pull it yard, might be worth looking into. |

Carefully remove the stock ac/heat unit. It can be modified to mount behind the seat, vents at the center of the seat edge, and one in each corner above the seat back. The controle must be moved as well. Takes about 25 hrs of fiddling to do it well. I'd go the vint. Air route.

Re: Keeping A/c while laying on 22's
Im working on a system for my extended cab 1972 where the center councel would go is a heat ac unit from rear of a Limo puts heater core and evaporter between seats needing only duct going forward to vents it will require air diverters and cables to reg where air goes but cleans up the firewall.
I will post some pics in a day or so along with info on air diverters
