I need to swap the 700r4 in the parts 91 suburban I have into my 84 GMC with 700r4. I finally got around to resolving my driveshaft issue and found out the trans case is busted. I have a 700r4 in the parts sub but I know it can't be straight forward. I just don't have that kind of luck. Any idea's?

IF im correct, it should be straight forward, i know the 700r4's changed some from years to others, but not sure what that has to do..

I thought the 91 version had an electronic speedo. Doesn't that eliminate the cable and gear at the tailshaft?

I may be wrong but I think you might be able to put your gear drive in the newer one? You might want to post this in the engine and drivetrain area, there are some motor and tranny studs over there that forgot way more than I ever knew about them.

The transmission itself is a bolt in. The 700r4/4l60 only came in one length except for the units that came in corvettes. The electronic speed stuff I think will interchange with the mechanical stuff. Just swap them back and forth.
