Contact cement for headliner?
Okay so I know from past experiences aerosol cans of spray glue just dont cut it when redoing a headliner. So after some searching ive found contact cement to be what im needing. Now my question is is there a brush on type I could use that would work? Could I simply brush on the glue you'd normally use for spraying? I dont have access to a compressor nor do I know anyone with one or id go that route.

Re: Contact cement for headliner?
Are you going to use regular headliner material with the foam backing? If so, I have always used 3M Super 77 spray on adhesive, work great everytime. I always sprayed a coat on the backing as well as the foam padding, let it set up for a few minutes, then attach the two together...a helpful hint is to cut a piece of cardboard into 2 pieces (should be larger than the headliner backer), butt them together in the center of the backer board, then center the material over the backer on top of the cardboard, spread the cardboard at the center and attach the liner at the low (actual the high spot, should have it out of vehicle upside down) spot and smooth it out from the center to the edges to keep out the wrinkles, slidding the cardboard out as you keep smoothing to the outer edges. Is easier to do than explain it here...basically the super 77 is a type of contact cement, once the two pieces touch, there is no coming back.
If you are using regular headliner material, I would test the contact cement you have your heart set on on a small area of the headliner material to make sure it does not melt the foam backing off the headliner material. I would guess you would have to coat both the material and the backing board both if using contact cement, just as I described with the super 77. Hope this has been of some help...hell, I think I might have confused myself!
