?????bucket seats????????

I have got a 1978 cmc sierra greande. It has a bench seat in it. I want to put bucket seats in it. What kinda vehicle, make, model, and years would have bucket seats that would fit.

Once i find out i'm gonna just go to the junk yard and look for some good ones.

A 1978 GMC Sierra Grande could be ordered with them from the factory . Look in Blazers , Jimmys , Trucks ,and Suburbans . The truck brackets are unique to trucks but the others will have the same seats .

What about all this talk i see about the 96-99 seats. I like that modern look in an old body. How do those bolt up?

youll have to fab up some brackets for almost anything you want to install but it usually isnt that hard to do

I mounted my '87 bench brackets to an '88-up bench, after removing the risers from the later model seat. Some of the holes even lined up. I had to do a little cutting, drill a few extra holes, and "adjust" it about
1/2" with a hammer, but there was no actual fabrication involved. The buckets would probably be the same deal.

i was wondering if anyone has ever used bucket seats out of an early 90's blazer. i found a set of really nice black ones really cheap. i think that they would be nice, but wondering if anyone else would have any input on this matter.

Blazer buckets and pickup buckets were the same for the same years. The mounting though was completely different. Blazers have a flat floor with tall seat stands where a pickup has short stands because of the gas tank clearance in the floorpan.

If you want something close to bolt in, get buckets from a later Suburban. and get the inner mount. with a little bending of the rear track mount, they will bolt in....

Any suggestions on how to retrieve the front inner mounts? I saw a set of buckets at the junkyard and have been trying to figure out how to make that happen.

mine came out with a cold chisel ,noisy and not much fun but a good
salvage yard technique . a cordless sawzall {got to ge one of those !} would be prefect just cut the
floor section with it

I used a cold chisel and cut a hole out of the floor and brought them home and then separated the brackets from the piece of floor so i didnt bend them up. Captkaos is exactly right, I got buckets out of a 91 suburban and all i had to do was bend the back of the bracket up to bolt it in. Here's a pic of the installed front inner bracket. The white circle is the section of floor i cut out with the cold chisel.


To mount the inner front bracket properly, loosely bolt it to the seat bracket where its supposed to go. then bolt the seat in the truck with the two outer bolts. Now the seat is in the right place, you can position the new bracket on the floor and tighten the bolt up some so the drill bit won't make it move around. I just laid over the seat on my stomach to hold it in place and drilled the holes through both the bracket and the floor at the same time. After all that is done, drill the hole in the floor for the inner rear of the bracket.

Do you know if bucket seats from a 1993 chevy truck work for a 1986 c10?

As everyone said the only thing that will bolt right in is factory truck buckets along with the front floor bracket inner part from a truck or burb or whatever they came in, but the truck brackets you need, or use the burb ones capt said, or just get two sets of bench seat tracks and use them with a shorter spring or wire.

You're gonna have to make anything work, there's not really much just bolt in deals. Unless you find the squarebody style and then as mentioned they aint just botl in, you're gonna have to do something.

88-98 trucks is the newer body style and the square is like 88-91 on burbs and such and 87 in trucks.

Anyone ever tried the two bench seat tracks method? does it work? It did for my monte carlo buckets, just got two bench seat mounts and used them, one a truck let's say take the PS outer and move it to the DS inner mount and then move a DS outer to the PS inner part and then ps outer to ps outer and ds outer to ds outer.

I dont have a answer for your Bucket seat question. But I do have a question of my own. I saw a picture of a suburban with the third row seat was a folddown like in a Van. does anyone know what kind of Van seat I could used I have a 89 GMC Burban
