Just picked up a 77 shorty

Bought it from a little old grandma. Sweet as can be. She kept it very clean. The only down side is that has the 6 with a 3 on the tree. Motor was rebuilt in 05, seems to run great, passed smog. Has a little rust starting on the fire wall and the door sill. Going to por15 before it goes too far.

I'm still unsure what to do with it. Sell it, Lower it, put in a small block, and just mess around with it. I just don't know if it's worth swappin motors if I can buy one with a small block in it.

What do you guys think?

Offenhauser intake, 500 Holley, Sanderson header, drop it a little and drive the wheels off it.

Re: Just picked up a 77 shorty

I'd give it a real good cleaning and use it as a daily driver... since it has a 6cyl you won't waste as much gas.. i kinda wish mine still had the 6cyl w/3 on the tree

Re: Just picked up a 77 shorty

Leave it just how it is and drive it! Maybe add power brakes though.

That thing is totally cool! Mine is a 77.

Give it a bath, put a cd player in it and drive it.

Re: Just picked up a 77 shorty

Wow trucks like that dont even exist in this part of the country. You have an excellent start regardless what you decide to do. Swapping in a 350 is easy. You have like 0 body work needed. Make it how you want it and drive the wheels off of it.

When you find a 33-year old square as nice as yours, I'd leave it bone stock.
